So I owe everyone lots of pictures from the trip to Arizona. It was fantastic. Mat had an absolute ball with "Super Baby Jonah". Those two were adorable together. Anyway, vacation stories and pictures will be for another blog...(One I need to get to writing and editing!)
This blog is about getting back to work...school and the rest of life. Mat did really well switching back to Ohio time. He's staying up til about 10pm EST, which isn't terrible considering he switched himself to AZ time less than a week ago. I'm sure he'll be back to completely normal sleeping times by the end of the week. Work is work, I love my job but it keeps me so busy during the day. I guess that's a good thing as the time flies. But seriously, I'm weird I know, I really do love what I do for a living....
Then the last item from the blog...doctors...Mat went to the Ophthalmologist today...It was as we thought. Surgery to correct his strabismus. The degree of wandering is about the same but the doctor stated it would not get better by itself as some cases do...the severity is too much. The downside is that he's lost more stereovision in the past 3 months. So we're hoping he'll gain that back awhile after the surgery.
The good news is that he only needs to have surgery in one eye (two muscles), not both eyes as we originally thought. We will speak with the scheduler later this week for the exact date, but it will happen in the month of June. The surgery will take around two hours. The procedure is outpatient, so he'll come home that day. Scott and I will both take off to be with him. Mat does not understand any of this, so he just thought the doctor was taking lots of measurements (and interrupting his lunch for his own personal agenda) for no reason. We'll see once we have the date, if we can't explain to him about what will happen...but how do you tell this to an almost four year old (if you have suggestions, please let me know).
Other than that my mom goes in tomorrow for some tests on her heart. My sister will be with her, as I was told to not take any days as I need to save them for Mat and for the parasite that'll be here in November. So hopefully that will go well, though I will have my cell on me in case something goes wrong. (This isn't one of those nice tests like an ultrasound or CAT scan...they'll fill her with dye and do crazy weird tests where she can't be fully aware of what's going on.)
So yea, doctors, doctors everywhere....

Glad you guys had fun in Arizona. I love it out there. Hope all goes well with the eye surgery. Probably the best thing to tell him as far as the surgery is that they are going to have him go to sleep and fix his eyes. Then when he wakes up he will be all better. I've been told the more detail you give kids about surgery the scarier it becomes for them. Hope everything goes well with your mom's tests. What test is it?
